uneventful weekend

This weekend we, or I should say I didn't do much of anything except putts around in the yard pulling weeds & relocating plants. I did save a skink from the evil clutches of Maybell the cat from next door. TJ started working on replacing the Jeep head. TJ tries to explain what he's doing but it sounds like Charlie Browns teacher talkin'. I know nothing about this but in case any dudes check, here are pics.

Sarah P Duke Gardens

Thursday Betty and I headed over to Sarah P Duke Gardens. http://www.hr.duke.edu/dukegardens/ We were there for about 4 hours and made it thru about half way. This place is amazing and I definitely will head back there.

<~~Here we are standing on a marker. This is the 36th parallel of latitude 36 degrees 00 00 N. 3,990 kilo or 2,480 miles north of the equator. Is that cool or what!!

<~~This was in the Japanese gardens. There was a sign that read shoes must be removed before entering. Betty asked if it was religious reasons, I figured the floor was teak so it's to save wear and tear. I guess I'll have to wait for Naomi to answer that one.

TJ's perfect Sunday, God in the a.m. and guns in the p.m. Here TJ is teaching Naomi about the 2nd Amendment with a Walther P22 (22 LR).

Guess who's in town!!

That's right.....Namoi is in W-S for a few days. Just a quick stop here (5 days) then off to VA to get her stuff from school to ship back home to Phoenix AZ. We headed over to G'boro for Cheese cake by Alex (yummy), then over to Ganache for lunch (another yummy).

Life is a beach

This past weekend we headed out to Emerald Isle for a long weekend with TJ's parent and his Aunt Bobbie and Uncle Fred (they own a house there). We left Thursday early afternoon in the Subaru since we just got it back from the transmission shop on Tuesday and $1,200.00 later, and figured it would be cheaper in gas to take this instead of the Jeep. Cheap ride, no hotel fees, economic vacation, right? We got about 1 block from the house and we lost our transmission. You heard me, all we have is 1st gear. To make a long story really short we had to have it towed from Emerald Isle to the transmission shop in W-S, cost, $614.75. You betcha the transmission shop is paying for this. At least I hope so, we'll find out today. Yes life is a @%&# beach, but we made the most of it and it really was a nice vacation. We rode back with Mom and Dad which meant we had to extend our time there one more day. Dangit!!
