While at work on Thursday we once again had visitors come by. There are 2 fawns this year, the other one popped into the wooded area. The quality is not very good, but then I took this through a dirty window. Our building is glass from ceiling to floor which is nice but can be very distracting for me.

Walking Stick
We spent Sunday at Stone Mountain S.P. for a short hike, a good lunch, a little nap and relaxation on the reclining chairs and then some ice cream. These were all good ingredients to a great Sunday.
I spotted this walking stick hanging over the men's restroom. I usually check out the buildings looking for tree frogs and lizards but this was a real nice surprise. This is the first walking stick I've seen in NC.

Nature - love it or hate it
Typically I love snakes. I love to watch them, handle them and observe them in their natural habitats. That is until I find one up in the tree, after it has eaten the 3 baby robins I've been watching for the past few weeks.
Notice the wide girth, that's the babies. No I didn't kill the snake but I was really irritated. TJ helped me get it out of the tree. I called for neighbor Betty (she likes snakes too), we took some pics then put it down into the back yard. The robins have not returned and I miss seeing them in the back yard collecting worms and bugs.
I've never seen a black snake with such a clear pattern before.
TJ went back to working on the Jeep drive shaft while we messed with the snake.

Weekend in review
Even though it was a stinkin' hot weekend we ventured out Saturday to the 9th Annual Bayou Bash in G'boro around 5ish at the bog gardens. They had tikki torches lit, Cajun music playing, story telling, food and a large rain storm. We left just before the rain came. We then headed over to Kernel Kustard for the Cruise In, and of course for custard. Sunday was food shopping, off to church then chill on the couch for a few hours since it was way to hot to do anything outside. It's been along time since we've taken a nap and it felt good. We then headed out for dinner with Mark and Brenda to celebrate their anniversary which is July 15th. We went to Phoenix Asian Cuisine in G'boro. It was okay, but TJ and I prefer Oriental Cafe, M & B like PF Changs. After dinner we hung out at the Wiles and watched Push. It was ok, and I'll leave it at that.

4th of July weekend
TJ spent this holiday weekend working on the jeep. He started Friday morning around 8:30 and finished Sunday around 4. Something with the rear axle? Lockers I think. No he didn't work straight through the weekend, I did get some T time. Saturday late afternoon we went to the River Trail Mercantile, which is much more impressive on their web-site than the actual store http://rivertrailmercantile.com/. I packed a dinner picnic and we were headed up to the park way to watch the stars, not the fireworks. But if we saw some that would be ok. As we were headed up Hwy 52 TJ noticed the clouds increasing over the mountains so we decided to head to Tangle Wood instead and watch the show there. It had a family picnic feel about it and we enjoyed our time there. We took the reclining chairs and sat back and watched the people then we watched the fireworks. They gave out glasses to wear which gave a prism effect.
It was ok on a few, but after awhile they all started to look the same.
All in all it was a good weekend. Hope you all were able to enjoy some time with friends and family over the 4th.
