When sin entered the world along came...............bamboo.



Several years ago a "friend" said, Gail, plant this in your yard. It's so calming to watch and peaceful to listen to the leaves in the wind. If I see this person again we are gonna have a discussion on calming & peacefulness. I had no idea just how fast this stuff grows. I have to clip new grown each day which can be a pain in the butt, I'd rather pull weeds. So now we are trying to rid our property of this sin, and how are we doing this you ask? By digging up the yard and pulling up the roots by hand. It works best when the ground is wet so for the past week we've been working on this each day until we exhausted ourselves and just can't pull any more. I'm thinking 10 gals of gas and a match so this sin can burn. TJ's thought is explosives. My hope is to get most of this cut down this weekend so we can work on the hill. So if you're in the neighbor hood and have nothing else to do, bring a clippers, shovel, fork, gloves and a strong back.

Weekend events

I found this rough green snake up on our back deck. I was so excited when I saw it come up through the cracks, I've wanted to see one of these up close and personal for a long time. After about and hour of handling, it was released in one of the flower beds. I hope to see it again.

Headed to Raleigh with Mark and Brenda, we stopped in at the Natural Science Museum. This is a real nice museum, and it's free.

Naomi for a few

Naomi stopped in for a few days this past week before heading back home to Phoenix AZ, that's right Phoenix AZ, not Fukui Japan. Her family now lives here in the states. It was a short visit but a nice one.

Morrow Mt SP

This past weekend was spent at our 2nd favorite campground in NC. The wildlife there was abundant and touchable, my two favorite things. The weather was a bit moist but that was fine, TJ rigged up a tarp over the site and we roughed it in the pop up this time. We figured that we might need the a/c, but opted out of that since that loop had just way to many people already there early on a Friday. The 2.5 days were spent biking, hiking and taking the kayaks out. It was a work-out, yet relaxing weekend with my BFF.

These "things" grown on the scrub cedars in our yard. They are hard brown growths of some sort and do nothing but hang on the tree until it rains. Then they transform into this slimy tentacle ball of ewwww. Then they dry up and go away.

While out walking in the yard this morning I saw this and it is my Tue gift. Thanks YHWH

Topless Day (for jeeps only)

May 9th is the unofficial, official Jeep topless day and here in NC is was a nice day for it. We headed to the farmers market for English peas & red skin peanuts then ran some errands until it got a wee bit to warm, 86 degrees, for the topless thing. It was a short, but sweet jeep day.

Of course TJ is cleaning the Jeep, can't take it out with a dirty windshield.

Baby season

While working in the yard on Furlough Friday I heard the peeping for babies coming from the Bluebird box. It wasn't a Bluebird but a Chickadee that has made this home.
