1st camping weekend of 2008, perfect!!

This past weekend we headed over to Pettigrew State Park, it's a swamp and what an incredible place to hang out for 3 days. We saw wood ducks in the trees in our camp site, foxes, turtles everywhere, tree frogs, snakes, white ibis, huge skinks. Alligator at Roanoke Island along with bear tracks. The dunes at Jockey's Ridge at the Outter Banks, and the stars at night were awesome.

Tree Removal Weekend

We needed to remove a small maple for the fence line since it was hanging over way to far. TJ got the jeep, also know as the tree removal vehicle and rigged it up to pull down the tree. All went well with no injuries to us or the fence, yeah!!!!!!!!!!!! Then we headed over to Joe and Karen's to assist in taking down a dead pine before it took out a car or their home.

The days come and go without much notice during some seasons but this spring with the neighbors tree removal we've noticed. We walked the woods and found hundreds of Toadshade trilliums, ferns and bloodroot. We've watched to see if the new suns path is going to interfer with their survival or if maybe some intervention needs to kick in. Betty and I are still watching to see.
