Progress Report

We started the shed on June 21, and completed the floor which looks like a mini-helo pad in our back yard. Mom asked when the fiddle playin' would start since it does resemble a stage. It was done with ease and no "discussions" as we worked on this. It's level and square and did I mention no conflicts while doing this!! THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR PRAYERS. Last night we nailed together the back wall, 8ft ?? inch tall back wall. After we stood it up on end we decided it was going to be our front wall since a 10ft would be way to big. And just to show you how the Spirit lead us in this, we didn't have enough 2 x 4's for the wall so we left the center open........that's the door way. Even in the little things the God of Israel has His hands in this. Tonite TJ is loading up the truck with more lumber, yeah!!!!!!!! The plan is to finish this before we go camping on July 4th. Yes we're going camping at a state park on one of the major holidays, which mean barking dogs and screaming kids. We've never done this so it's time to try something new, yes?

Can we survive one more?

Our marriage has made it through cross country moves with being stranded in MT. Living in a camping trailer for 3 months in the parents driveway while looking for our future home. Painting all the rooms in the house, tranforming the bathroom into a more than just a bathroom, building a deck, major tree removal and now.........................

What can go wrong? I bought a book!!

Fathers Day

This weekend we spent Fathers Day with Mom and Dad, of course, at their mountain place in VA. TJ and Dad mowed the yard, Mom cleaned, I helped a little but my agenda was to look for critters. After these things were completed we sat down to lupper (late lunch early dinner) for chicken n dumplins. I now know Mom's secret and showing all the world!!!!!!!!!!! It was a good day, great meal and a sleepy ride home. Life is good.

Because of sin?

I understand why we have garden spiders with webs....to help control the pests that eat away at the veggies and other plants. But why do we have these? Spiders that go out and hunt down their food. That's just wrong!!

HROC kayak fun

Not much going on around the Hill house since the hot weather has settled in. For us the perfect temp is 72, not 98!!! But we did find a way to hang with friends outside without going into complete meltdown............kayaking on the Dan River with Chris and Laura. It was around a 10 mile trip and it was nice. The water was a little low but that didn't stop TJ from dumping his boat in the first small rapid, appropriated named "flipper". I think I spent more time dragging my boat over shallow rocks while the rest of the crew found the deep water and just paddled thru.........Laura is the deep water finder, follow her when in a kayak. We maneuvered thru tube floaters, and tried to avoid making contact with swimmers. Chris clocked one guy on the back of the head, apparently he didn't hear Chris yelling to get outta the way. And Laura sacrificed her stuff and boat and dumped it to avoid running someone over. By the end of the trip we were a bit tuckered out but it's something we'll definitely do again. We're gonna do this again in the fall so if you plan to be in the area join us. I don't have a waterproof camera but the Wiles did and once pics are available I'll let cha know.
